MKC Training Services floor at Brompton Barracks

MKC Training Services Ltd (MKCTS) is a dynamic and innovative company working as part of the Holdfast Training Services (HTS) consortium in a 30 year Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Ministry of Defence. Established in 2009. MKCTS designs, manages and delivers a wide range of artisan, technical and professional training in construction and engineering skills for Royal Engineer Officers and Soldiers at the Royal School of Military Engineering. Located ‘inside the wire’ at Brompton Barracks and with some 30% of its staff having a military background, many in fact former Royal Engineers, MKCTS has sought to develop a keen awareness of the needs and aspirations of both current and former service personnel and their families.

The Challenge – Why Did MKC Training Services Need A  New Floor?

Location: Brompton Barracks, Kent
Size Of Area Covered: 40m2

  1. MKC Training Services wanted to improve the appearance of the Fabricator floor permanently as they had to repaint the existing concrete frequently.
  2. It is a high traffic area so the floor needed to be tough and durable and easy to maintain.
  3. Safety is always of paramount importance so our floor signs & logo tiles were inserted into the floor to remind trainees to wear safety boots, eye protection and ear protection.

The Solution – Ecotile PVC Floor Tiles

Market-leading manufacturer of interlocking floor tiles, Ecotile, designs and produces its comprehensive range at its UK production facility – providing durable and safe flooring solutions that can be installed with minimal disruption in commercial and industrial applications around the world.

“We were able to quickly and efficiently install Ecotile – without downtime – as the interlocking system means that the installation process is fast and simple. The floor can be installed without the need for a damp proof membrane, screed or adhesive – significantly reducing VOC emissions, installation time and cost.

The safety signs, the MKC Training Services logo and the Royal Engineers Cap Badge have a tremendous impact and really add to the smart appearance of the floor and the area as a whole.”

James Gedye, CEO, Ecotile

“We were very happy with the installation process and I would definitely recommend Ecotile; in fact we hope to roll it out to other Engineering disciplines and stores here.”
