“As a family business, we have over fifty years’ experience in selling pre-owned specialist cars. Over time as our business expanded, there was a need for a safe and secure place for the high value cars we deal with. So, we created storage facilities that also provide us with a sheltered area to carry out preparations and detailing work of the vehicles prior to sale.”

The Challenge

“Our storage facilities have seen frequent use over the years. The combination of high footfall along with oil and chemical spills from car maintenance was beginning to have an effect on our floor. Marks and stains from spills were becoming more prevalent and the floor looked worn and old. Also, we felt the concrete didn’t look welcoming or as comfortable to walk on compared to flooring you’d see in detailing bays at other companies.”

Considering Options

“While we explored options for our flooring problems, we realised that we needed something that would be durable and low maintenance without being too much of a distraction to keep clean. At first, we had a look at painting over the concrete floor, but we realised this would eventually peel away, leaving chip marks and not offering the long-term solution we were looking for. We also had a look at repairing cracks and the appearance of the concrete floor. However, logistically this would have caused problems for us as we would have needed to arrange temporary premises for the vehicles to be stored in.

The Solution

“We came across Ecotile Flooring and noticed it would directly solve many of our problems. To start with, there was no preparation required. Our concrete floor was level, so it was easy to have our tiles installed above it. Also, the tiles have a smooth texture, which made them a great option when it comes to cleaning. We were searching for something that would be strong and durable, and being made of PVC, we were told Ecotile Flooring would guarantee long-term performance. If a tile was accidentally damaged, it was encouraging to know that we could replace the tile ourselves and it wouldn’t affect the flooring. Also, if we were ever to move, we would be able to take the flooring apart and take it with us and easily reuse it.”
