Top 5 maintenance advice tips for a healthy workshop floor
1: Clean your floor little and often
When it comes to prolonging the life of your floor frequent and gentle cleaning beats sporadic harsh deep cleaning every time. For regular everyday cleaning we recommend Avmor Rotex ph Neutral floor cleaner.
2: Apply sealer immediately after installation
We always recommend that you apply a good quality sealer. First, strip the floor with Avmor Stripper, then apply three coats of Avmor Distance Acrylic Sealer. Make sure that you allow at least one hour between each application so that it is dry to the touch.
3: Use the correct floor cleaning equipment
Make sure that you always use the right cleaning equipment. For floors over 100m² we advise clients to invest in a rotary scrubber dryer. They will keep your floor in excellent condition and save you a lot of time. We recommend Kärcher scrubber driers.
If you’re floor isn’t large enough or you choose the manual route, apply a recommended cleaning solution to the floor and make sure that you leave it for at least 5 minutes to allow it to break down the dirt. For regular cleaning we recommend 25ml of solution to 5 litres of water.
Make sure you use a deck scrubber, micro fibre mop or suitable cleaning pad (green or blue). Rinse the floor with clean water to remove the dirty water from the floor with a mop and allow drying. Use a double bucket to keep the clean and dirty water separate.
4: Strip and re-apply sealer every 12 – 18 months
Okay so this might sound like a lot of work, but there really is no substitute for a regimented approach to floor care. One day each year dedicated to stripping and re-applying floor sealer will give you a much longer floor life and ultimately save on expense on disruption further down the line.
5: ESD Flooring? Make sure you follow these rules for optimum performance
If you have an ESD floor it is essential that you clean the floor with a specialist ESD floor cleaner, such as the one available from us, to ensure compliance with BS EN 61340-5-1:2001 and IEC 61340.
Also, if you want to apply a sealer to your ESD floor it must be an specialist ESD sealer and our tests to certify that the floor is ESD compliant must be done before the sealer is applied.
