SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR PLASTICS RECYCLERS TOOL

Since the launch of version 1.0 of the Safety Data Sheets for Recyclates tool (SDS-R) in late 2010 by the European Plastics Converters (EuPC), the European Plastics Recyclers (EuPR), PlasticsEurope and Vinyl 2010, the website has welcomed registrants from all across Europe.
This tool, the first of its kind in Europe, enables plastics recyclers across Europe to achieve their REACH compliance obligations, a heretofore difficult task due to recyclers’ position in the supply chain and consequently their limited access to information on waste composition. The SDS-R Tool has aided recyclers with this problem by providing them with tailor-made safety data sheets downloadable from an interactive website.
Version 2.0 of the SDS-R Tool, available as of 17 May 2011, will feature a more user friendly interface that allows users to download their SDS in 7 different European languages (English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and Hungarian). An individual user space allows clients of the SDS-R tool to store and manage their SDS, with easy access to the latest version of every SDS.
Along with the 60+ SDS in the database, created using historical data for polymers and toxicological data for polymer additives, the SDS-R Tool also enables users to request tailor-made safety data sheets based on the compositional information they provide.
